There is power is singular focus and action. We see this power in science, business and life in general. It applies to sexuality too. The Bible tells us that a life lived in dissolute living, going from sexual partner to sexual partner does not produce great results both emotionally and financially (Proverbs 29:3). This rootless pattern of action fails to concentrate power in one arena. Energy, focus and life are dissipated through unorganized and impulsive decisions and actions. In atomic energy resulting from nuclear fusion, atomic nuclei are combined and so power is concentrated and vast energy is created. Our source of solar energy depends on nuclear fusion as it binds hydrogen to form helium, producing massive energy for the universe. The same principle applies to sexuality. Union between man and woman produces fruit, emotional fruit and potentially children. Going from partner to partner scatters that sexual energy and thus scattering the soul. Poverty is a real result of such action (Luke 15:14). The fruit of union between man and woman produces joy and fulfillment and is essentially life giving because we see life begetting life. The Bible teaches us that various circumstances in life create conditions whereby life is missing and thus producing attitudes of continual neediness: a fire is never satisfied as it keeps devouring; a barren womb seeks seed to fertilize and bear children; the earth is continually needing rain to quench its thirst; and hell never stands still, always looking to devour souls (Proverbs 30: 15-16). A mind focused on God, to form marital union with another has a goal in mind and a divine purpose to fulfill. That mind is not focused on “what I need” but on “what can I give?” A life-giving lifestyle creates a mindset of service toward others rather than conditions of perpetual neediness. Power that emanates from continual actions to stay committed in marriage gains momentum like a mighty force and its effects are more powerful than a nuclear reaction.
