We Choose Our Actions But Stuck with…

Written by Joe Dardano

Our current western cultural climate is saturated with the common ethos that humanity has the right to choose any way they want to live. That is correct. God grants us free will. The second half of our actions, their consequences, are not that simple to understand for the common mind and we need to realize that they are connected to our choices. The human psyche has difficulty understanding that all our actions have consequences. Like Newton’s third law, for every action there is a reaction. The paths we choose have results connected with those choices. The best way to limit destructive consequential actions is to deliberately choose the paths of God. If you choose what God would choose for you, then the consequences will be good (Proverbs 4: 6-19). If we choose actions that are contrary to the ways of God, uncomfortable & deadly consequences will follow (Proverbs 6:28). This is seemingly a hard concept for many to grasp. The vitriol around individual rights to pursue whatever life choices one wants is evermore caustic and heated. But do those who make those arguments realize that consequences follow? And that these consequences are like the yo-yo connected to the string, when the disc falls toward the ground, it will come back up. If one jumps off a sky scrapper without a parachute, they will fall to the concrete to a certain death. The natural occurrence of consequential circumstances, like gravity and the speed of light, is a universal constant for all people, in all geographic locations and in all times. Even if people ignore it or refuse to believe it, it still exists and persists in the daily fabric of all our lives. The way of freedom and liberation is to choose the universal God for all humanity–Jesus Christ.
