The End Times

Written by Joe Dardano

The end times or last days is mentioned in the Book of Matthew and other parts of the bible such as the Book of Ezekiel & the Book of Revelation. One thing that is evident is that there will be events that will happen which are clearly out of our control–“wars and rumors of wars” (Matt 24:6), “nation will rise up against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places” (Matt 24:7). We cannot control earthquakes and wars, but we can pray, stay sober and perform works of charity. The point is, the end is going to come. Jesus is coming back. What we need to focus on is staying awake and being prepared for his coming. We need to live each day as if it is our last, not knowing if Christ will appear today or tomorrow (Matt 25: 1-13). Like the ten bridesmaids, we must imitate the five who were wise and prepared with oil, so that when the bridegroom was delayed, they had oil to light their lamps and enter the wedding feast. When Jesus Christ returns, the groom (Jesus) will unite with his bride (the church) in one huge wedding feast. Prepare yourselves to celebrate with Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, or risk being thrown out into the darkness where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth (Matt 24:51).
