Follow The Bible NOT the Media

Written by Joe Dardano

We need to understand that media is a business, and it is not in the business to “report news” but to attract traffic, readers and volume to its followers. It does that by fomenting passions and getting people angry, afraid and all wound up with emotions. Quite often, media excels in its business model by pitting one group against another: white versus black, poor versus rich, and so on… In the realm of economics, the Bible teaches us to work cooperatively and avoid pitting one against another. The business owner needs its workers and workers need business owners for both to move forward and succeed. It takes a team to make an enterprise successful (Proverbs 14:28). It is my contention that we ought to spend more time reading Sacred Scripture than on social media. The Bible offers timeless truths and a path to successful living that applies to all generations everywhere. The following teaching in Proverbs 14: 29 is an excellent example of God’s wisdom that can benefit us today: “Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly.” How many peoples jobs’ could have been saved if they practiced this teaching in their homes, workplace, or on social media?
