When Things Go Bad?

Written by Joe Dardano

Most people point the finger when life turns sour. The truth is, the only place to point the finger is back at ourselves. Life is like the photo in this blog post, a tug of war. The more you pull one way, the more the opposing forces pull the other way. You get in life what you put into it. God teaches us this lesson over and over in the Bible. During the time of Babylonian exile, the Israelites moaned and groaned about their plight. However, God lays out the truth and teaches them that is was their lawlessness that paved the way for their captivity: “But my people did not listen to my voice; Israel would not submit to me. So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts, to follow their own counsels. Oh, that my people would listen to me, that Israel would walk in my ways! I would soon subdue their enemies and turn my hand against their foes. Those who hate the Lord would cringe toward him, and their fate would last forever. But he would feed you with the finest of the wheat, and with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.” (Psalm 81: 11-16)
