Where do you invest your time & energy? Do you buy things that you consume and then disappear? Are you invested solely in short term positions? Are you interested in investing in things that satisfy you, that offer you inner joy and peace? Then invest in things that do not cost money. Invest in Jesus Christ. For this investment in God incarnate is an investment in things that truly satisfy. Not only that, it is an eternal investment, offering eternal life. Many people invest in things that do not feed them spiritually: “Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread? and your labor for that which does not satisfy?” (Isaiah 55:2). Earthly bread offers nourishment for the body, but then the body needs nourishment again, and then again. Spiritual bread, the Word of God, brings everlasting nourishment. The thirst discussed in Isaiah 55 is an inner thirst for truth, love, peace, joy and Salvation. Only Jesus Christ can quench our thirst.
