Jesus is fully God and fully human. So when we struggle in our humanity with temptation and suffering, Jesus can relate to us since he lived in the flesh. He shares our human nature. Alternatively, His divinity is shared with us as well, and we are called to Holiness for the sole purpose of clothing ourselves more and more with Jesus Christ’s divine nature. This should be our intentions throughout our lives until we reach Heaven. The method of sharing in Jesus’ divine nature is a life-long journey of implementing the tools of perfection into our daily living: “His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires” (2 Peter 1:3-4). It is a powerful message when we read in 2 Peter that we can indeed participate in the divine nature of Jesus Christ if we live in faith and put into practice the means of Christian living day to day. The power of living that divine nature is not just thinking about it, but utilizing the spiritual weapons granted to us by God in our spiritual warfare.
