It is good to have more. More money, more status and more power; only if you use it correctly and with Godly wisdom. What is the real meaning of having more? Whether it is more money or more worldly authority (like titles), Jesus asks for humility. Yet most people do not accept this teaching. In Matthew 20:25, “Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them.” This is the way the world works. People who have more let it be known they have more to place themselves above others. Social status is important for most people. However, the real value and power of having more is not to lift one above another human being, but to place oneself below another human being. When I write “below” I do not mean to live in shame and guilt or have a lack of self-respect or love for oneself. When I refer to being below another, I mean to be of service to other people. Jesus makes this clear in Matthew 20:26, “Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant.” If you employ worldly powers like money & titles in this way, to be of service to others, then your wealth will be real. Your joy will be full and happiness will reign within you because you will be living in an eternal realm.
