Our fleshly nature invariably demands we seek proof before believing. However, The Kingdom of God asks that we believe first and then the proof will arrive to convince us. So instead of “I believe it when I see it,” we need to think more in the realm of “I believe it and then I will see it.” The encounter between Jesus and the woman who suffered from hemorrhaging for 12 years in Mark 5: 25-36 is an example of this teaching. The woman had the faith to seek Jesus and touch the fringe of his cloak, believing that if she touched his garment, she would be healed. The garment did not heal her, but her faith in the power of Jesus Christ healed her. In verse 34 Jesus says: “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.” This is clear, that belief in Christ has real power to heal and save souls. Ultimately, our belief system will either save us or doom us: “I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am he.” (John 8:24)
