What benefit is there in following God? One core attraction to accepting Christ as Lord & Savior is eternal security in love—salvation of your soul. That feeling inside of being safe and secure, no matter what is going on around you is one primary result of having an authentic faith in Jesus Christ. Even if events around you are crumbling, your steadfast faith and the cloak of salvation offered by Jesus Christ will serve as a foundation of safety—guaranteed. Psalm 27 presents this beautifully: “he will conceal me under the cover of his tent.” (verse 5) This inner protection is offered even when outside forces appear to bring danger: “though an army encamp against me, my heart will not fear.” (verse 3) What attracts fear and insecurity in the first place is our sins. Unlawful actions create an unsafe inner reality that brings fear & uncertainty. Our souls cry out for protection after we sin. The is just one negative effect of sin—it makes us feel bad. Unfortunately, many people seek to cover up those bad feelings by indulging in false saviors—alcohol, drugs and pornography, just to name a few. Those alternatives only serve to mask the core issues. God calls us to eradicate the cause of fear by encouraging us to place our trust and lifestyle in Jesus Christ. Put your whole life into His hands and let the effects of that decision bless your life. You will profit in excess.
