In our exposure to societal chaos in many parts of the world through a self-centered media that focuses on selling “bad news”, discord and disunity, many can become discouraged if they build their daily lives around reading news all day. I encourage all readers to first begin your day reading Scripture and the hope God offers to all believers. One message you will learn from this habit is that good will always overtake evil in the world. In Romans 5:20, we read “where sin increased, grace increased all the more.” Although sin increases is many places globally, the power of undeserved love (grace) is multiplied exponentially to overcome it. The power of Good works to counteract the much lesser power of evil, and in most cases people do not realize it because all this effort is accomplished in the invisible realm of Spirit. I affirm this point when we read the story of Jesus cursing the fig tree (Mark 11:14). That tree withered to the surprise of the Apostles. They did not comprehend the immense power of the Word. Now imagine if Jesus cursed us? What would happen? We would certainly be wiped off the earth in seconds. That story alone proves the immense power of love and the overflowing grace God pours on all humanity, forgiving us continually in hope that all come to the realization that Jesus Christ is Lord of all, so that all sinners may repent and enter Heaven (John 14:2). At the end of the day, we know that light shines on darkness and that darkness has no power over light (John 1:5).
