Living a holy–not perfect–life is the sure way to see God. Hebrews 12:14 offers us wise counsel on this Path: “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.” This is backed up in many other parts of the Bible. Matthew 5:8 is one fine example, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” In Psalm 24: 3-4 we read, “Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not trust in an idol or swear by a false god.” This teaching is clear. But if we try to accomplish this state of being on our own, we will end up frustrated. Why? Because if we try on our own, we are attempting to live in a godly state without the aid of God. Thus, God encourages us to ask Jesus Christ to lead us. We are encouraged to be in a daily relationship with the Son of God, our Savior and Lord. As we do that, we will see the light and thus see God: “For with you is the fountain of life; in your light, we see light.” (Psalm 36:9) It is only through a daily reliance on the power of Christ Jesus that allows us the possibility to live in holiness. We must decide to be holy through use of our wills, but we gain power through Jesus, in a moment to moment relationship.
