The Biblical Great Commission to “go ye forth and teach all nations” is a well known verse in Christian circles (Matt. 28:19). In Mark 16:15, it reads “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” The variation in language is slight but the intention is take the gift God has given us and, in an act of faith, take it to the world for the benefit of others. Taking the message of Good News to the world can affect the eternal destiny of many people. This action of faith not only makes a difference in the lives of others, but brings joy to us, the messengers. As the verse in Acts 20:35 reminds us, “it is more blessed to give than to receive.” The message of salvation is an abundantly joyful experience to the soul of the messenger. That is why God gave us this command. Within the DNA of every human being, there exists a desire to bring good to others, and when a person acts on that instinct, it produces joy (Romans 10:15). That very process of reaching out to others is a process that speaks to the fulfillment of our human development.
