In today’s cultural marketplace, there are alot of different views on sex, marriage and relationships. Battles ensue about what is a true marriage and what can be considered “valid relationships.” In this post, I want to encourage readers to look at this issue form another viewpoint. In reality, it is a Biblical viewpoint applied to the issue of human sexuality. In regard to sexuality, there should not be any confusion if people were to be practical and evaluate their sexual lives against the Word of God. More precisely, I want to focus our attention to one proven and certain sign that God sends into our lives to confirm, for us, His presence and “stamp of approval.” That sign is the presence of peace in our lives. Look at the following scriptures on peace in the Bible: “The LORD gives strength to his people; the LORD blesses his people with peace.” (Psalm 29:11); “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33); “And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.” (Colossians 3:15); “For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,’ says the Lord, who has compassion on you.” (Isaiah 54:10); “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” (Romans 15:13) I hope you get the picture. The presence of peace in our hearts is a true and tried sign that God is among us, within us and blessing our lives. That being said, if your sexual life is filled with confusion, doubt, uncertainty and turbulence, is that a hint from God that all is not well? This point should give you food for thought as you evaluate your spiritual condition in regard to your sex life. One practical question to apply here is, “are you at peace with yourself after making love with your partner?” After sex, is there that overwhelming sense of peace in your life? If not, then you may want to engage in some refelction about the condition of your sexual life. Your eternal salvation depends on your seriousness about living the way God wants you to live.
