Human desire is often portrayed in Christian circles as selfish. Yes, some desires need to be checked by the light of faith, by Scripture, by elders and wisdom of the church or else someone may be deceived. Yet those desires that have good intentions and are worthy of God and His Kingdom are not necessarily selfish in origin. In fact, they come from God. In Psalm 27:4, we read, “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Its God the Father that implants desires within us. If we are in a habit of being in quiet prayer, on a regular basis, listening for the Word of God and then acting on that Word, we will see that this Scripture comes true for us. It is an act of faith to believe this Bible verse. This lesson is confirmed in Philippians 2:13, ” for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.” Ultimately, this verse imparts to us a responsibility to listen, act & be faithful to all the desires God implants within us. What is God asking you to do today?
