Wealth is Good

Written by Joe Dardano

In the Kingdom of God, wealth is good only if you enjoy it while following God’s laws. Too many people fall into the trap of pursuing wealth for its own sake, as if money and possessions were supposed to be an end in itself. The same goes with other facets of human life like pleasure. All great aspects of living need to be experienced in context with the Kingdom of God and its eternal laws. When pursued outside the scope of Jesus Christ, then pleasure, possessions, and other temporal goals become empty pursuits with no inner meaning and purpose. When God delivered His people out of Egypt, they were lured away from an oppressive regime with “silver and gold” (Psalm 105:37). But the silver & gold were given to encourage the people of Israel to pursue God in all things. The abundance of wealth was granted so that the people of God would not need worry abou survival but on living in the Way of God: “For he remembered his holy promise given to his servant Abraham. He brought out his people with rejoicing, his chosen ones with shouts of joy; he gave them the lands of the nations, and they fell heir to what others had toiled for that they might keep his precepts and observe his laws.” (Psalm 105: 42-45) The fertile land of Canaan was given unto Isreal for the purpose of living the precepts of God; not to lord it over others in brandishing temporal power and strength, but by shining in divine power that beholds temporal wealth in conjunction with the ways of God; an inner integrity that gives witness to the Father’s care, strength and ultimate justice. Deep inside the souls of humanity, people want to experience the saving justice of God the Father and there is no greater justice than witnessing that good things come to good people who follow and commit their whole minds and hearts to living in congruence with the statutes of God, not perfectly because that is not possible, but with faith, perseverance and relentless desire to seek Him and only Him.
