We Can Change Our World

Written by Joe Dardano

God tells us clearly that we change our world by our actions, whether good or bad. As we do good, we create good within us and in the surrounding environment. As a spark lights a fire, a good deed creates goodness and seeps into the community we walk in. In Psalm 97:11, God describes this as “light is sown for the righteous and joy for the upright in heart.” When a human creates a good act, does good for someone else, its like light is sown into that person’s life. Life begets life; good creates good. Light a spark within your world today and watch that spark grow into a fire of righteousness in the world you dwell. This is our purpose as Christians, to live establishing good and have that good impact others for the glory of God. Matthew 5:13-16 describes this impact another way: “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.  In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
