What if things go wrong?

Written by Joe Dardano

What do you do when things do not flow as planned? How do you react when life throws a wrench onto your plans? It is common for people to get frustrated. The flesh reacts angrily against the forces that derail our plans. Have you thought that perhaps God is directing you to a better path? Recall Proverbs 16:9, “The human mind plans the way, but the Lord directs the steps.” God knows our plans and wants the best for us. When things do not go the way we anticipated, God is guiding events so that the highest and best outcomes are given to us. Even if it does not feel good, our faith tells us this is the process. In the meantime, what should be our attitudes? Thankfulness is the way to react if abundance and prosperity is our goal: “rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thess 5:18). Giving thanks in all circumstances is an act of faith on our part. Our faith tells us to be thankful that God offers the highest and best for us even though we do not see or understand the path.
