Sacrifice for The Way is Real Power

Written by Joe Dardano

Personal power is derived through sacrifice of fleshly desires that are contrary to God in order to live in the Way of Jesus Christ. In our time the word sacrifice is not popular; however, in living a sacrificial life, power is given to us. That power is channeled through how we worship God, not by going here or there, this church or that. Worship is not an external thing of action without heart, but an internal act, a decision to live as Christ with joy: “But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him.” (John 4:23) This verse clearly outlines that its not where we go to assemble with other believers, but how we live our lives in truth. This is what the Father seeks, for us to live moment by moment in His truth. When we live in His Way and when we worship him, we need to bring a spirit of gratitude for all things God has brought into our lives. That sense of gratitude produces and inner joy and solemn communion with God the Father: “Those who sacrifice thank offerings honor me, and to the blameless I will show my salvation.” (Psalm 50:23) The act of giving up something for another is not totally foreign in our culture. Athletes train all the time to achieve success. they give up certain foods so that their bodies produce certain results. Executives, entrepreneurs and business people work long hours to create wealth, sacrificing time to focus on the bottom line. For the most part, people don’t see this as sacrifice but it works out that way. We can apply this idea to our spiritual lives and acheive similar results, which work out as personal power, fulfillment and joy. This is true power. Witches and sorcerers seek power through sacrifice too. They make vows to satan to gain personal power. However, the power they gain is a false power. Its does not work when faced with the power of Jesus Christ. The only way that kind of power can victimize you is if you allow it to enter your life through sin. If you protect yourself through vocalizing out loud a faith in Christ, it creates a shield of protection that no demon can enter. It works every time.
