Our Youth are Full of Promise

Written by Joe Dardano

The Kingdom of God values the role and promise among our youth. The next generation carries the values and ideals we need for culture to continue and prosper. Luke 17:2 offers a warning to adults about how to treat our youth: “It would be better for them to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around their neck than to cause one of these little ones to stumble.” If a young person is abused or maltreated by someone claiming to follow Christ, that image of God will resonate within and turn off that young person to God. Abuse can close hearts in fear and animosity and ultimately threaten the salvation of souls. The salvation of each soul is what matters most. In the end, we are primarily concerned that someone leads a life worthy of heaven, that forgiveness, repentance and true love of God and acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior be foremost in each person’s heart. The mind and heart of every human being truly seeks the worship of a living God: “My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.” (Psalm 42:2) People do not come alive by worshipping objects. We live in ecstasy when we worship, communicate and live moment by moment with a God that we have a personal relationship with.
