Looking for a Sign?

Written by Joe Dardano

Often followers of God feel confused or require affirmation of their faith. Its in human nature, therefore, to seek a sign from God to confirm one’s path to Him. In the struggles of life, doubt will creep in from time to time and our humanity naturally seeks direction from God so that we can feel better about our decisions, sacrifices and commitments to perseverve toward Truth. Doubt is the complete opposite of certainty and, like the snake in the Garden of Eden, it is real and bombards our lives all the time. When confusion abounds, we tend to look for a sign from God. So, is there a type of event or condition that can assure us that God is sending a sign? Yes, if you read the Bible, you will discover that an overwhleming sense of peace is a certain and true sign that God is present and affirms your condition in life: “My people will abide in a peaceful habitation.” (Isaiah 32:18). The reason why peace is an objective sign that God is present, is that good actions produce peace. The effect of living within the will of God is pure peace, a natural consequence of right choices, the fruit of faith. As it reads in Isaiah 32:17, “The effect of righteousness will be peace.”
