Jesus Christ is Power

Written by Joe Dardano

Religious denominations who point their work toward Jesus Christ and encouraging followers to focus on their relationship with Jesus Christ facilitate the movement of power from God to humanity, and permit people to experience personal power for themselves. Recall Jeremiah 10:10:  “But the LORD is the true God; he is the living God, the eternal King.” The Lord is not an object or empty idol to worship. God the Father in divine union with Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit is the true living God, practical, alive and pervasive in our lives moment by moment. That being said, God emphasizes our inward disposition toward Him and His laws. Ultimately, He wants us to have emotional investment in His ways, for us to love following His laws and precepts. He wants us to feel and desire to do good and give unto others. God, as it states in a popular proverb, is “an inside job.” If we act externally to please God in an empty show, without feeling or desire to love Jesus Christ, done solely to please people and gain status and power within society, then this type of activity/worship is meaningless. Look at Psalm 51 to understand this point: “Behold, You desire truth in the innermost being. For You do not delight in sacrifice, otherwise I would give it; You are not pleased with burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; A broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.”
