Got the Right Kingdom?

Written by Joe Dardano

Jesus gave us a Kingdom. Do you have the right Kingdom? Do you really know the Kingdom Jesus has to offer? We know from Scripture that Jesus’ Kingdom is not from this world (John 18:36). This means the Kingdom of God is not set up as we normally would understand a temporal kingdom, with physical boundaries, military, police, laws, etc…The Kingdom of God is not created as a democratic system with elections and ballots. One does not cast a vote to belong to the Kingdom of God. In essence the Kingdom of God has very little to do with political systems we find on earth because it exists in the spiritual realm. We can participate and belong to the Kingdom of God if we choose. But where is this Kingdom? How do we find it? The first point we need to consider is that Jesus “made us to be a kingdom” (Revelation 1:6). This gives us control and power over our circumstances. Many times in our lives we feel that things have spiralled out of control in our lives because of external forces or powers impacting on us and rendering us helpless in the process. In these circumstances, we need to ask “did we play a part in this chaos?” If God made us a Kingdom, he is telling us we are responsible for the actions we take: the books we read, the things we see online, the people with associate with, the decisions we make with our money and so on. Our will, through the activity of our mind, is the focal point of this Kingdom of God because it guides our daily lives whereby consequences flow. This brings us to answer another question about the location of this Kingdom: “The coming of the kingdom of God is not something that can be observed, nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the kingdom of God is in your midst.” (Luke 17: 20-21) The Kingdom of God is inside us and illuminates the passage in Revelation 1:6 about God making us a Kingdom. It means he makes us responsible for our thoughts & actions we take and the direction we lead our lives.
