Do not Judge…Lest ye be Judged

Written by Joe Dardano

The Christian life, whether we know it or not, is like a boomerang: whatever we dish out comes back to us. The good things we say, will come back to bless our lives. The disparaging things we say come back to haunt us. This positive and negative power is within us, just look at Deut. 30:19, “This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.” It is an awesome repsonsibility to know and have in our power which direction to take our life and what direction we are going to impact people in our lives today. In Matthew 7:1-2, we are instructed not to judge the lives of other people, “do not judge, so that you may not be judged. For with the judgement you make you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get.” However, it is tempting to speak out when the words and actions of others rub us the wrong way. When people say and do things that go against our beliefs and values, we are tempted to condemn, even if our own lives are filled with sin and wrongdoing. This temptation is common to all people which is remedied with continued repentance & renewal of our minds and hearts toward the mind of Christ. Let is live fully today by looking at our shortcomings and not the sins of others. I encourage all of you to turn away from things that hurt others. Confess your sins to Christ and strive toward perfection. Strive to be better every moment until we live fully free in Jesus Christ.
